Everyone should have a tree planted outside their house.
I did just that approximately 6 months ago. Unfortunately, i have a big problem with the person in charge of the labour force who carries out this work.
Take a walk up Roberts rd. (a beautiful street), and you will see what i mean.
The finishings are just aweful :(
I could have done a better job. i am sad to say that i do regret it :(

hi. it see that the woodstock park loves to have gates and fences, just like making an open air prison ! i don't know who pays for it, but i suspect that part of my taxes are going into those awful things. Is Cape Town and/or Woodstock municipalities in pool with some fence companies ? haven't you realise that we are already living in cages with burglar bars everywhere - do we need to add some on open air spaces ? what is the aim of these divisions between each field? it was so much nicer before. And apparently the soccer field will now only be reserved to soccer players?? i don't have a dog, but i like seing people meeting at the park to chat and walk their dogs. i thought all of them were responsible in collecting their dog pooh. if not, people should be fine. is the reason for preventing dog owners to walk their dog there ? was there consultation with local residents?

I'm writing out of concern for what one of my neighbors on Chamberlain St has just done this morning (4/9/10). He has cut down one of the beautiful Wild Olive trees in front of his house. These Wild Olive trees were planted by the city and are located on city property as I understand. What can we do to stop any further actions he might take with other trees close to his property and mine.

His address is No. 11 Chamberlain St, Woodstock, 7925

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

On a somewhat unrelated topic - if you do have a tree on the pavement in front of your house, is it your responsibility to trim it, or is that up to the council? Also, all the offstreet parking bays springing up - with trees being felled to make way for someone's Golf GTI or Volkswagen Polo is quite disturbing. I know offstreet parking is a luxury, but hell... I'd rather walk a block or two along a tree-lined street rather than have no trees (and several private parking bays)! or am I being jealous?

[...] In a progress report of April 2008 it was stated that NO further work is being done on the Victoria Walk/Melbourne Road project. This area is a Public Open Space and City Council is quite serious about preserving the Public Open Spaces and so is UWRA and the surrounding community. UWRA has made this clear to Council in the Woodstock Development Framework. [...]

The Woodstock Development Framework was tabled as a motion by Ward Councillor Cedric Thomas in a Sub-Council 15 meeting on 17 June 2008.
UWRA is very happy with this, because it is another step on the road towards our Framework being accepted by Council and becoming part of the District Plans of the City of Cape Town.
